Lately I have been amazed by God's providence, and how He works out all those tiny little details in such wonderful ways.
A friend of ours just had a baby, and we have been seeing God working out little things all through it.
To start, we went to bed at 9:30 (which is quite early for us) the night before she had the baby, so mama was rested when she was called to come over in the wee hours of the morning.
Also, weeks before he was due, I had this urge to knit him a baby hat. I got it done quite awhile before he was supposed to be here, which is not normal for me... I tend to be last minute. Anyway, it turned out that the other hats didn't work for him and my hat was the one he needed!
A little before he came, mama called and told us to make soup and cornbread. We started right away and then called a friend to come take it to them... it turned out she could do it and also that the soup got there at exactly the right time, when they were all ready for it.
And yesterday, when I went over to get the van, it turned out that they needed help with moving furniture around in the bed room, so I was able to help with that.
When I went to leave, the van did nothing. Didn't even make noise. I was thinking, Hmm, I guess God still wants me here. So I went in, told mama, and started doing dishes, sweeping, mopping, etc... Hannah and I used to clean for them, so I felt perfectly at ease getting out cleaning supplies, putting food away, etc... (Who would've known that that experience would have come in handy now?)
Then, the new mom's husband came back just in time to jump-start our van... and it worked!
There are more instances of God's providence, I'm sure, but those are some highlights...
Anyway, just want to encourage you all to keep trusting God fully. He really does care about the little details; He does have a plan for us--a good plan--and He has it all under control!
Wow, I never will cease to be amazed by the infinite attention to details that God has. Think, at that time He was also guiding the growth of millions of little babies all over the world, planting seeds in Amazonian rain forests, and diverting bullets headed for the hearts of the men at war who had years yet to live. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteLikewise! It truly is stunning when you think about it and begin to realize how great God is. That is what the movie Indescribable does to you. At the end, you feel that God is very, very, very big and you are very, very, very tiny. Minuscule, even. But in a good way. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting all by yourself! :)
Indescribable? I haven't heard of that one! Sounds like something that I should check out! :) Does it come with high reccomendation?
ReplyDeleteHi Allison,
ReplyDeleteYou definitely should check it out and watch it! I recommend it highly. I think everyone needs to watch it several times a year. :) We haven't purchased it yet... I think I will put it on my birthday wish list. :)
Have a great day!
