Count Your Many Blessings...

Last year, I was reading Mrs. Lauser's blog, and saw she had started something called a "One Thousand Gifts List." I thought that was a neat idea, so I decided to start one this year. I just reached 1,000 things a few days ago, on July 6th. :)

It has been really good for me, especially when I first started, because I was working for a mom who wasn't... the happiest person ever, and also it was pretty hard work. And, on top of that, Hannah was gone. :P But doing the gifts list kind of forced me to see good things, and that really helped. :) Though I got kind of desperate some days, and that is when I got thankful for water. :D

I considered blogging my list, but decided against it, so if you want to read the whole thing, you'll have to come visit us. ;)

However, I will give you a few (ha!) samples just for fun. :)

Anyway, I am not stopping at 1,000 (already I'm at 1045) (it's addicting) and I am thinking about blogging my next thousand.

So... What do you think? Yes? No? This blog? Start another one?

  1. Very good stuff! I personally think 487 might just be the coolest. 8)

  2. Thanks for posting these Carissa!! 574 is cool. Haha.

Well, what I do (oh wait, I have Ubuntu, so this may not work for you), is just have my notes that I write them on posted from my desktop. Not too hard. :)

  3. That's a really cool idea. I might have to try that sometime!

  4. Papa: You commented!!! :D Yes, I really am excited. I was half asleep, sorry. Yes, I think that one might be. ;)

Jay: You're welcome. Haha, of course. :)

Um... you'll have to explain that a bit more.

Dakota: You should! I think it's like a tradition... you find it on someone's blog and you try it and then you put it on your blog and someone else tries it... :D So that would be great if you did it from reading it on my blog. :)

  5. Hi Carissa,

I am so thankful that you did the 1000 gifts!! Great job!! You have some great ones on your list. :) I especially like the little things that are so easily is missed by the business of life. It is so good for us to stop and thank God for them and to appreciate the 'little' blessings and miracles that God gives us.

How many do you have now?

    God Bless,
    Mrs. Mama Lauser

  6. Hi Mrs. Mama Lauser,

I am very thankful for you sharing the idea! :) Thank you! I had fun looking through and picking some of my favorites. There are tons more, though, that I wanted to put on.

Yes, it really is important to take the time to notice those little things... it makes life so much more exciting and beautiful. :)

    I have... *goes to look* 1081. :)

  7. Carissa,

I decided to stop by your blog right before going to bed & read this post. I really needed to read something like this today. I was just thinking how tired I was & all the "terrible" things that were happening to me (aka being discontent) & then I read this & it made me think of all the wonderful things that God has given me today. So, all that to say - thank you for posting, God used it to bless me.

Also, I was shocked & excited to see that I made your list! I'm thinking I may start one of these. If I do you will definitely make many appearances. :)

    Be Blessed Dear Friend,

  8. Great idea! I'm thinking that maybe I should do this too. I can imagine it becoming addicting. I think it's a great way to counteract the negative, complaining thoughts that the enemy sends our way. By the way, I'm feeling especially partial to # 615...wonder why???

  9. Dearest Allison,

Thank you so much for letting me know that this was a blessing for you! :) That is very encouraging... it's so neat to see how God uses little things we do in the lives of others! Some of the message yesterday was about that. :)

Of course you made the list, silly!! haha. You're on there more than that, too. :)

Aw, that's sweet of you... :) I hope you do start one! That would be awesome. It's a really good thing to do. I am at number 1210 now. :D

  10. Beka!! You commented! *shocked look* :D

You should definitely do this too.

I have no idea why on earth you are partial to that one... *shrugs* haha!

    SEE you soon!!!
